Bethany United Church of Christ

Administration 

Minister:  The minister, with the assistance of the Executive Council, is in charge of the spiritual welfare of the Church.  The minister is a servant, teacher and pastor to the congregation of Bethany.

Officers 

President:  The President is the presiding officer of the congregation and the Executive Council. 

Vice-President:  The Vice-President assists the President and fills the office of the President if the President is absent or unable to do so.

Recording Secretary: The Recording Secretary records the meetings of the congregation and the Executive Council.

Treasurer:  The Treasurer is appointed for a two-year term by the Executive Council.  The Treasurer is responsible for care and disbursement of the Church funds. 

Recording Treasurer: The Recording Treasurer is appointed for a two-year term by the Executive Council.  The Recording Treasurer is responsible for recording and depositing Church monies and reporting individual giving status on a quarterly basis to members.

Executive Council

The Executive Council is the executive body of the Church.  It is composed of the President, Minister, Treasurer, and one representative from each Board and five members elected at large by the congregation.

Boards

Board of Worship and Spiritual Life: The Board is concerned with the spiritual welfare of the church.  

Board of Christian Education: The Board is concerned with educating the congregation in the Christian faith.   

Board of Service: The Board is concerned with promoting benevolent outreach and to encourage the ideals of Christian stewardship.

Board of Church Administration: The Board is concerned with the care and maintenance of all church property, the administration of all non-professional staff, and shall prepare the annual budget to be presented to the congregation.

Committees 

Pastoral Relations Committee: Supports and maintains a relationship between the pastor and members of the congregation. 

Nominating Committee: Presents names of candidates for open positions on the Boards and Executive Council. 

Search Committee: Searches for a new minister if a vacancy needs to be filled. 

Constitution Committee: Presents an updated Constitution and Bylaws at one of the semi-annual meetings for approval.
